Parliamentary Committee Systems is a critical appraisal of the Parliamentary Committee system now obtaining in Sri Lanka from a normative and comparative perspective. A shorter version of this paper was first presented by Asanga Welikala, Research Associate (Legal and Constitutional Unit) at a Workshop on The Role and Relevance of Parliament organised by the Centre for Policy Alternatives for first time Parliamentarians, 12th to 15th July 2002, Hotel Triton, Ahungalla. The paper includes annexures containing a summary of recommendations and draft amendments to Standing Orders for the establishment of Oversight Committees.
