LABOUR

The Legal Unit undertook a project on the purchasing practices of Transnational Corporations (TNCs) and the impact on women garment factory workers. The project carried out by researches Eranthi Premaratne and Rukni Ambagahawatte with the assistance of Harshini Amarasekera, Meera Pradan and Ryan Grist was carried out from April – July 2003. The project was commissioned by Oxfam Community Aid Abroad.

On behalf of Fair Labor Association (FLA), CPA convened the Round Table Discussion on Jaqalanka Ltd Union Recognition Dispute in October 2003. Having settled the dispute through a good faith agreement CPA is now involved in facilitating the operation of the agreement.
